Hi, I’m Lydia
I'm a scientist and conservationist, and I think the natural world is far more extraordinary than most of us ever get the chance to notice.
I've spent my life fascinated by wildlife. I hold a Master's in Wildlife Health and Conservation and a Bachelor's in Animal Behaviour and Welfare, and my curiosity has taken me a long way from home — exploring the jungles of Costa Rica and tracking predators across the reserves of South Africa. But I've lived in the UK my whole life, too, and some of the moments that move me most still happen close to home: a bird working something out on the garden feeder, the quiet drama unfolding in an ordinary hedgerow.
That's the idea behind The Naturalist Collection. Somewhere along the way I realised how much of what makes the natural world astonishing stays locked away — inside scientific papers and specialist language, out of reach of the very people who'd love it most. I wanted to change that: to take what I've learned and share it warmly, simply, and without the jargon, with anyone who's ever felt curious about the living world around them.
Because the world is incredible — genuinely, endlessly so — and it's also facing real challenges. I've come to believe the two are connected. The more we notice and understand the nature on our doorsteps, the more we come to care about it, and the more likely we are to look after it. Paying attention isn't only good for the planet; it's good for us, too.
You don't need to be a scientist, or even know where to begin. That's what I'm here for. Whether you pick up a journal, join a talk, or simply read along, I'd love to help you see a little more of the world than you did yesterday.
Made with care
Everything I make is made thoughtfully, by hand, and with the natural world in mind — because it would feel strange to celebrate wildlife and not look after it in the process.
I design every journal and downloadable guide myself, and the printed pieces are produced by sustainable, responsible printers. My packaging is chosen with the planet in mind, and every box is packed by hand here at home. The pieces inside are either designed and printed by me, or carefully sourced from sustainable, local makers I trust.
The talks and Academy sessions are entirely my own work too — drawn from years of research and my time in the field, then shaped into something genuinely enjoyable to learn from, wherever you are in the world.
It's a slower way to do things — but it means everything that reaches you has been made with thought, knowledge, and care.
